Now adays it is said that the Winter months are “Cuffing Season”, when it used to be Spring was “The Time to Fall In Love”, well atleast according to the Diabolical Biz Markie (God Rest his Soul). However, now the North Carolina Big Boss known as TRE-DOT is claiming Summer to be the perfect season to sweep that special someone off their feet on his new Boom Bap Bop, LOVE STORY.

As I listen to the latest single from TRE-DOT, I’m reminded of the Kings of Comedy intermission segment where Steve Harvey asks, “Whatever happend to songs about Love?”. Songs you could dedicate to women without the fear of getting Cancelled due to the obsene lyical content. It seems like the music industry decided behind closed doors that Sex sells more than romance, even though the biggest hits in history have all been Love Songs. So what we are left with on the majority of Urban Airwaves are songs dedicated to lust, rather than ballads championing Long Term Commitment and the idea of loving someone through thic and thin, for or better or for worst. Thats the kind of thinking that kept our Grandparents together all our lives. That kind of thinking keeps families together, and lowers the rate of divorce. Must be why its not pushed on mainstream radio anymore. At least not in the innercities.
The Big Boss aint playing that game or subscribing to that nonsense. According to TRE-DOT, this isnt only a “LOVE STORY”, this is a life lesson he is laying down on record. The Emcee who prides himself in making relatable Adult Hip Hop aint ashamed to admit he found someone worth hanging his Player Jersey up in the rafters for. As he chants in the hook, it seems TRE grew tired of fronting and finally feels comfortable admitting
“I cant make it up / Tired of Being Tough/ I’m in Love with you/ Tried to mix it up, but things were getting Rough/ Time to settle down with you/”.

We at WVCC RADIO wish TRE-DOT and the source of his inpiration all the love, happiness, strength and patience in the world to tackle the journey ahead. If his goal was just to sell records, it would be a lighter prayer, but I know TRE-DOT’s aim is to change lives through his music and Podcast, and when you are planning on embarking in that kind of journey, you need a good partner next to you for when the hard times try to change you instead.
