As my girl and I shot across the state of Florida, from Tampa on the West Coast to my new home of Vero Beach on the East Coast, we were accompanied by the newest sounds from the East to West Coast Production team known as REGION MUSIC. TIG & D-9 are back with yet another level of the REGIONs musical dynamics. On their last outing S.O.L.A. they showed us they could get down with the Electro, E.D.M. wave. Now on their new full length lp, BLUE LILY, TIG & D9 are bringing back that R&B/Hip Hop feel that many of us grew up with and have been missing as of late.
Joints like the infectious “IN LOVE” take you back to that 112 feat THE LOX on the remix era. Vocalist Dinero Esquire delivers a hook that stays on replay in your memory hours after you heard the joint. The REGIONS Front Man D-9 knows what to do with the smooth banger and lays down a pair of verses reminiscent of early 2000s Fabulous. TIG & D-9 take the album from that classic R&B/Hip Hop sound, to the modern AutoTune Melody Rap wave with joints like TKO where INAS sets the whole vibe off making way for HERSHEE to say her peace from the side of the “Bad Bih” that has INAS down by TKO, but not before the song goes through several break downs that keep the song growing to a satisfying climax before bringing us back down smoothly. Like a great sex session.
On a recent IG LIVE Interview with REGION MUSIC, one of the album contributors said “If your not having sex to this album, we didn’t do our job right.” However, no real gentleman runs right to Home Plate, and REGION MUSIC gives us the soundtrack to successfully round the bases. First there’s the flirtation joints like “IN LOVE”, and the party moving “AT THE BAR” featuring 90’s Teen Heart Throbs SOUL FOR REAL who deliver an amazing bop in their adult age. Then there are the Sexting/Foreplay songs like the lead single “ONLY YOU” which immediately sends my girl off singing along with the hook. The sign of a successful single. Then there’s the NORTH STAR anchored “ANOMALY” which gives me instant Hova and Timbaland vibes. This is definitely not one to play around the kids. Actually, it’s time to put the kids to bed. The last 3 songs on the album, BIPOLAR, MOOD, & SITUATIONSHIP will definitely require some privacy for uncensored adult time. The sister TRUTH HURTS gives us a smooth melodic banger that anyone who has had a struggle between their Mind and their Heart can relate to. The beat and Melody flip mid song turned this song completely around for me upon first listen, and has BIPOLAR one of my favorite joints on BLUE LILY the more I play the album. EMANNY understands the assignment and gets us all in the “MOOD” with a panty dropper that is ready for FM Radio. DNA of SMACK/URL Fame drops the perfect complimentary verse making this a complete vibe.
