One of the things I love about the SoFlow Scene is the diversity in sounds and styles. What else can you expect in an area where South & Central America, The Carribean, Eastern Europe, Asia and Afro-Americans have all influenced the culture, flavors and music cooked up in The Bottom. In other states an Emcee spitting in Spanish might be a spectical or rarity. Down here there are whole Battle Leagues dedicated to Spanish Battle Rap. Reggaeton is king of the Airwaves and the community can pick up on what you throwing down in most “foreign tongues”. This is the scene TRAUMATIZE came up in. A scene that loved Black Star and Wu Tang as much as No Limit and Three 6 Mafia.  A scene that gave the world Pitbull, a young hungry chico not afraid to represent his people and heritage, infusing his raps with his Cuban lingo. TRAUMATIZE has always showed that same hunger, but on his latest Single, CHIPOJO, he explains he aint willing to change his true colors for no one.

Listen to CHIPOJO by TRAUMATIZE ft VIE ONEIRO

Traumatize explained to me that CHIPOJO is a Cuban name for a Cuban Knight Anole, a species of iguana that can change its colors to blend in with its surroundings, like the chameleon. On His latest bop produced by OMMN, He utilizes his native dialect to describe the 2 faced critic, who at first disses an artist for being too different, only to come back later, dick riding the new wave when he sees its the popular thing with the younger generation.
Both TRAUMA and his right hand Gal MYSTIX (who did the cover art for CHIPOJO) have experienced this first hand, and have grown stronger and wiser from the experience. I can personally attest to being a Promoter in the scene when TRAUMA & MYSTIX first started performing over 10 Years ago, and not being able to see their vision. I’ll admit with some regret, I slept on them.  Fast forward to 2023, hot off their self booked South Florida “CRUIS’N TOUR”, the two have shown that they cannot only move a crowd, but they could also gather a crowd of like minded creatives, without selling out on their self made brand.

Traumatize Live
Its with this SAME confidence that TRAUMATIZE swags out in Spanish on the 1st Verse of CHIPOJO, before So Flow Flowcalist VIE ONEIRO blesses the hook with her singular style of Spanish Soul Stank. Then she proves she can hang with any rapper, in any language, on any beat, as she rips jealous Haters a new one in the tongue of her ancestors, as they watch in awe and envy.  The Nicaraguan singer/lyricist, VIE ONIERO, joined TRAUMATIZE and MYSTIX on their CRUIS’N TOUR, and the three not only made fans in different cities of Florida, but they also gained the road experience to kill a live performance. I’ve had the pleasure of witnessing TRAUMATIZE & VIE perform CHIPOJO live, and they sent the energy level in the crowd through the roof.  The beat by OMMN is not only infectios in your earpods, it slaps over a loud system, and these two know how to take that energy and multiply it with bars that are not only hype, but have actual meaning. Spend your energy on improving your own life and the scene around you instead of being a “Social Parasite who plots on knocking us off our Pedestal, when they can barely breath down at the level where they are stuck” (Loose translation of part of the hook).
