We all get hit with a “Case of the Monday’s” at the beginning of the week, so we here at #CyphLyfeRadio/ #CyphLyfeBlog want to start a new weekly segment called”MONDAY MEDICINE CABINET” where we’ll be sharing some New Releases we found over the weekend, either LP’s, EP’s or Singles that have been getting some good promo or have been grossly under-advertised or some obscure older releases that have gone under the radar but are worth the listen. We hope the music we share improves your mood on any sluggish Monday and gives you that push to conquer the week ahead. Enjoy….

First on the list is the New EP from a brother who gets alot of play on #WVCCRadio, Lord JAH-MONTE. His new EP, “ROBYOPLUG.COM” rides with that Low Fi feel everyone and their mother has been producing, but with a bit of a spacier vibe. The project is short, sweet and to the point. Dope Listen.
Next bottle of Musical Meds on the shelf is a not so new release, but still a Gem. “FUSUION” by producer Gas-Lab is a fantastically Jazzy / Boom Bap album featuring a great line up of artist, some which you may recognize (Moka Only), and others you may have never known existed, but trust me each song and verse is worth a thorough listen. Great album for the Office or if your just doing some House Work or Home Work. The Spanish calibration’s were some of the best songs on the project and a great surprise for a Latin Hip Hop lover as myself. Let us know what you think in the Comments.
This next selection should be taken with caution. The label on the bottle clearly reads “HIGHLY ADDICTIVE SUBSTANCE”. Legendary Producer PETE ROCK and Underground Hero SKYZOO have joined forces to bless Hip Hop Purest with their new Album “RETROPOLITAN”, released by none other than my New Favorite Record Label, #MelloMusicGroup ( www.mellomusicgroup.com ). I could sit here all day typing bout who good this album is, but I rather you hear it for yourself. If you end up getting addicted, we’ll gladly take the blame.
Looking for that New New?? It don’t get any Newer than the first single off of the upcoming GANGSTARR Album – “FAMILY AND LOYALTY” feat J. Cole. Last week the industry and Hip Hop Underground circles were shaken with the news that DJ Premier would be releasing a New GangStarr album this year with all new verses from Guru and featuring some great artist, one of them rumored to be NAS himself. Dreamville Records Founder, J Cole, also announced on Twitter last week that this would be his last Feature on someone elses song. Hell of way to wrap up a phenomenal string of features in the past two years, lending his verse to the come back single for such a Legendary Group. Check out this first free sample of the new album….it already has my mouth watering for the full platter.
Here’s another bottle I found in the Medicine Cabinet which seems to have the Expiration Date rubbed off. Oh Well. I popped this whole lP in my ears and it made me feel GREAT this Monday. HOMEBOY SANDMAN – VEINS was released in 2017, but it still sounds like its from the future. Enjoy this offering from Sandy as we await his upcoming album dropping later this year on #MelloMusicGroup.
Got one more for ya….and this one is a Doozey. Detroit has been making alot of noise in the past years with the emergence of super producers Apollo Brown, Black Milk and spitters like Clear Soul Forces, Marv One, Royce the 5’9 and others showing that the East aint the only ones who bring “Danger” when they “in the House”. So from out of the Motor City comes a new group who turn their album into a family affair. DA ILLAZ – PEOPLE UNDER DETROIT, is a fantastic body of work by L.A.Z of Clear Soul Forces and DJ ILL. It features some fire Detroit Mic abusers such as Belve and Noveliss of Clear Soul Forces and some others that I wasnt familiar with at first, but am now interested in hearing more from. This album rides like a Lac rolling right out of the Cadillac factory. Give it a spin for yourself.
