We have an album full of Good News to share with you on the CyphLyfe Review Blog today.  SCALE MONEY’s own YUNG FLEX and GEO aka 70×7, blessed us with an inspirational LP that both lifts spirits and brings day dreamers back to Earth with some hard hitting truths. The project is called THE SAINT & THE SINNER 2, and it has something for both the Saint and Sinner in all of us.

Listen to THE SAINT & THE SINNER 2 by GEO & YUNG FLEX Here

As a brother who has been on his own long, winding road of faith and belief, I can relate to a lot on THE SAINT & THE SINNER 2.  The sequel to 2022’s SAINT & SINNER, Part 2 presents GEO under his new alias “70×7,” and you can hear his spiritual and lyrical growth  since the first release. On the other side of the coin you find YUNG FLEX, the Hialeah native who admits to have had his own religious experiences in the past, but honestly confesses he is far from a”Holy Roller”.  They both offer their individual perspectives on growing up on the streets north of Okeechobee, and deliver street anthems that can be enjoyed by anyone who has survived the urban jungle.

From the “INTRO” of the album, you can hear these 2 spitters are commited to the penmanship made respectable by such hood tale tellers as Kendrick, Scarface, JCole, 2 Pac, Big K.R.I.T, T.I and Ice Cube.  Just like Pac tho, these aren’t lyrics you just listen to, these are words that you feel in your spirit and flesh. On joints like the soul moving “LOST”, 70×7 reflects on his struggles with Ego, Pride and Vanity, & the substances he uses to numb his guilt, as he tries to give God his proper place as Lord of his Life, but constantly reaches over to try and help God steer the car. “GROWN MEN CRY”, one of my personal favorites off of S&S2, is another soul stirrer where you can litterally feel both spitters fighting back their emotions as they express how GOD and Faith have been there for them in some of the hardest moments of their lifes. Something about hearing grown ass Hood Soldiers professing that “The Love Of Jesus Can Make a Grown Man Cry” that is High Key Respectable.

Our Boom Bap Audience might find this album a little more Down South, Trap than they prefer. A lot of Melodies, and harmonic hooks on this project, but the message is delivered with excellent writing that both the Rap Nerd and the Thug can tap in with. “CALLING ME” is one such song where both FLEX & GEO are sliding on the KATO produced beat, layering harmonies on their verses and sub hooks with the help of 70×7’s family K1NG DR3, but they are Talking Talking to your Mind and Soul. We can all relate with the lifestyle they are describing.  Numbing ourselves to keep from feeling the pain we live with daily, occupying ourselves with making money to avoid the feeling that we were meant for a bigger purpose than just making and spending cash.

FLEX describes the point of view from the Sinful Streets in grim but real detail when he raps “Yeah we human and we bleed the same/ Same Heart Beat, but its different situations, We dont see the Same/ Them Young Boys still keep the Flame/ They Shoot shots and let you keep the change/ Broddie something needs to change / Hot Potatoe, who’s gon keep the blame?/ I guess theres plenty to go around, cuz really I aint been a Saint/”

K1NG DR3 also lends his vocals to the Female Focused ballad, “JUST A LIL BIT (UN POQUITO)”, a song that encourages taking your time developing your relationships with the opposite sex and avoiding the pitfalls that lead most relationships to early ruin. This joint is a whole vibe with its production, infectious spanglish hook, and two expertly delivered verses from The Saint and The Sinner.  Its refreshing to hear a song meant for the ladies, that I’m not embarrased to play around my teenage daughter.  ENTERTAINMENT is another song that features K1NG DR3 and the messages behind this one run deeper than the Grand Canyon. Pay Attention and “Peep Game”.  Another guest appearance that earned an honorable mention are R.VELA on the ultra catchy UP TO THE SKY. which is an unashamed profession of Faith and overcoming struggle.  The hook on this one is going to stay repeating in your head for days if you give it a couple of plays.

I personally feel the foundation message of this project can be summed up in 2 Songs. PHOBIA & KISS THE SKY reflect GEO & YUNG FLEX’s desire to reach their streets, neighborhoods and listeners with more than just empty words, confusing messages and catchy tunes.  They are really out here sharing Hope with their neighbors.  Isn’t that the Golden Rule that Jesus tought at the end of the day, Love God above all else, and Love your neighbor as you love yourself.  These brothers love their Neighbors and their neighborhoods enough to not care if they are misconstrude as being preachy or gospel rappers.  If it helps save one person from the hell the strets are promoting around the clock, they feel like they have done what God created them to do. And they are thankful for the oppurtinity.  I for one am thankful they put this out.  God knows our airwaves need a lot more of this.  You can find several of the joints on this album on rotation on WVCC Radio, feel free to request your favorites on our Radio Page.
